Digital detox on offer at Coventry's National Trust site

A DIGITAL detox is on offer at Coventry’s National Trust property this weekend.

The Charterhouse Coventry is inviting visitors to take a gentle pause from the digital world and enjoy a free evening of calm, creativity, and connection.

Space to Be is designed for young people and adults who want to disconnect for the evening.

All guests will receive a lockable pouch in which to keep their phones throughout the evening, to be opened at an unlocking station on departure.

Guests will be free to explore the peaceful 14th Century medieval monastery, with each room providing a space to pause, think, play or create.

There will be access to boardgames, puzzles and crafting corners, typewriters, scrapbooks and journals – helping visitors to embrace nostalgia, relax and reconnect with the simple life.

There will also be live music from harpist Helena Bowen and Juniper Folk.

Amber Merrick-Potter, Public Engagement Producer for the National Trust, said: “This will be the first time many people will experience a phone-free event in their adult lives.

“Events like this are needed more than ever. Young adults spend more than a third of their leisure time on digital devices, and three to seven hours a day on their phones.

“There are now many studies about the detrimental impacts our digital use is having on our health and lives and many people want to find ways to disconnect.”

Space to Be takes place on Saturday (November 8) from 6pm. The event is free and membership is not required, but tickets much be booked in advance. Visit https://tinyurl.com/mvpmh5cz to book.
