COVENTRY Blaze claimed a thrilling 5-3 victory against Guildford Flames on Bonfire Night to secure their third league win of the season.
Captain Kim Tallberg netted twice while Connor Russell, Colton Saucerman and Grayson Constable also found the net at the Skydome Arena.
The result means Blaze sit seventh in the Elite League standings.
Coventry opened the scoring at 3.32 when Russell jumped into the play and fired a shot past Flames netminder Taz Burman.
However, Guildford equalised at 16.16 as former Blaze forward Nick Seitz teed up Ethan Strang to level the game.
Blaze reclaimed the lead at 17.43 when Saucerman blasted home his first league goal for the club.
The visitors drew level for a second time early in the second period at 21.11 as Tyler Busch scored on the powerplay.
However, Blaze skipper Tallberg put Coventry back in front at 25.11 after Mike Pelech provided a screen in front of Burman.
The Flames came back again at 29.26 when Strang netted his second goal of the game from Mathieu Gosselin’s behind-the-net feed.
Coventry took the lead for a fourth time at 32.46 as Constable scored his fifth goal of the season from the slot.
And Blaze eventually sealed the points with 26 seconds left to play when Tallberg finished into an empty net after Guildford pulled Burman for an extra skater.
Coventry are next in action against Manchester Storm on Saturday, November 8 with the face-off at 7pm at Planet Ice Altrincham.
Blaze then host Fife Flyers on Sunday, November 9 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome.
