FOOTBALL - Adi Viveash set for Sky Blues reunion as Coventry City's midweek opponents appoint new manager

COVENTRY City’s midweek opponents Middlesbrough have appointed a new manager ahead of a top-of-the-table clash between the two teams.

Boro have appointed Kim Hellberg as the club’s new head coach who joins the Teesside club from Sewdish Allsvenskan runners-up Hammarby.

He replaces Rob Edwards in the Riverside Stadium dugout after the latter departed Boro for the Premier League’s bottom club Wolverhampton Wanders.

However, Boro have confirmed interim boss Adi Viveash will take charge of the side for the fixture against the Sky Blues.

Viveash spent seven years as assistant manager to Mark Robins at Coventry before suddenly departing the club in July 2024.

And Viveash now faces a reunion with former club Coventry with the Sky Blues to head to Boro on Tuesday, November 25 with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Viveash guided Boro to a 2-1 win against Birmingham City in his first game as interim boss.

However, Boro could only draw 1-1 at Oxford United last weekend which allowed Coventry to open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Viveash will remain on Boro’s coaching staff following the fixture with Hellberg’s long-term assistant David Selini also making the move to Teesside.
