VICTOR Torp is enjoying the ‘freedom’ given to him by Frank Lampard ahead of Coventry City’s clash with Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Torp has enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal, scoring seven goals in the Championship and providing two assists.

The Danish midfielder teed up Ellis Simms for Coventry’s opener against Middlesbrough in midweek after scoring the winner against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

And Torp believes the influence of Sky Blues boss Lampard has helped him to take his game to the next level.

Torp said: “I have a freedom in my game and a role where I can get in the box and around the box.

“He [Frank Lampard] was one of the best at that when he played.

“I’ve been adding that to my game to try and get in the box a bit more and I’ve been scoring quite a few goals.

“The main thing is getting in the right positions – where the ball lands and where I can score goals.

“I feel like he has that belief in me as a player and that’s something I’m enjoying.”

Victory against Boro in midweek saw Coventry move 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table.

And Torp insists he and his teammates always believe they can win a game no matter the circumstances.

Torp added: “There’s a really good vibe in the whole building.

“We have a great team and a great dressing room and the feeling is very good and positive at the moment.

“No matter what happens during games we always have that belief that we can get three points.

“I’m enjoying my football very much at the moment.

“I’m playing in team that is winning a lot of games and I feel like I’m contributing to that.”

Coventry host Charlton on Saturday, November 29 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
