FOOTBALL - Ephron Mason-Clark wants '50 more goals' after Coventry City reach milestone in Charlton Athletic victory

EPHRON Mason-Clark insists Coventry City want to score ’50 more goals’ after the Sky Blues reached a milestone in victory against Charlton Athletic.

Mason-Clark provided the assist for Josh Eccles’ equaliser before Ellis Simms scored a brace to complete the turnaround after Harvey Knibbs put the visitors ahead at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Sky Blues have now scored 50 goals in just 18 league matches and remain 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table.

And Mason-Clark insists Coventry want to continue their scoring exploits and have already set their sights on reaching a century of goals.

Mason-Clark said: “It showed a lot of character, bouncing back [from one-nil down]. With the help of the fans as well, it was an all-round good performance.

“It’s an amazing stat [to score 50 goals]. But we want 50 more and more and more.

“For our objective, nothing is ever good enough until the end of the season.

“We just focus on each game and make sure we learn from our mistakes in previous games and rectify it.

“Having a week of preparation [for the next game] will definitely help us as a team.

“Someone stepped on my Achilles, it was just knock but I’m all good.”

Coventry have won their last five league matches while striker Simms has scored five goals in his last three appearances.

And Mason-Clark praised the form of match-winner Simms along with the atmosphere created by Coventry supporters at the club’s home matches.

Mason-Clark added: “Ellis is doing amazing. It just shows the quality we have in the squad.

“Ellis scores a lot of goals and is always hungry for more. We just have to give him the service.

“It just shows how competitive the squad is and how good it is as well.

“We’ve bridged that bond with the supporters over the last couple of seasons from the club’s previous successes.

“The community of Coventry is coming to support us and we’re all working in cohesion.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be part of such a lovely community and team.”

Coventry are next in action against Ipswich Town on Saturday, December 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Portman Road.
