JAY Dasilva dreams of playing at the World Cup next summer and believes Frank Lampard is bringing the best out of him at Coventry City.
Dasilva and Wales will learn their potential 2026 FIFA World Cup opponents later today.
The full-back helped Wales qualify for the World Cup qualifying play-offs with Craig Bellamy’s side to play Bosnia and Herzegovina in a semi-final in March.
And Dasilva praised current Coventry head coach Frank Lampard for improving his game this season which has seen him become a regular starter for the Sky Blues.
Dasilva said: “It’s everybody’s dream to play at the World Cup.
“I’m really looking forward to the qualifiers coming up in March.
“I’m enjoying my football and everything’s always good when you’re winning games.
“Since Frank has come in, the all-round mentality of the gaffer of how he wants the team to be, it’s just all clicked.
“It’s suited me and helped bring the best out of me.”
Free-scoring Coventry travel to Ipswich Town this weekend with the Sky Blues currently on a five-game winning run and 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table.
And Dasilva believes the competition for places in the Sky Blues squad has only raised the standards at the club.
Dasilva added: “It makes my job a bit easier when the boys are scoring goals.
“Us boys at the back can just give them the ball and they’re scoring at will and creating a lot of chances.
“We haven’t necessarily set exact targets as a group but we have personal standards and standards as a team which we strive to be our best.
“Competition tends to [help you push on]. You have no choice but to stay on it every day. It pushes everyone and I think it’s a good thing as it keeps in the standards high.”
Coventry travel to Ipswich on Saturday, December 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Portman Road.
