MATT Grimes expects Coventry City to bounce back strongly from defeat against Ipswich Town just as the Sky Blues did earlier in the campaign.
Coventry lost for just the second time in the league this season against the Tractor Boys at Portman Road.
The club’s only other defeat came away at newly-promoted Wrexham to which the Sky Blues responded with five straight wins.
And Grimes felt the final scoreline was not a fair reflection of the game but admits the fine margins went against the Sky Blues.
Grimes said: “I thought we played well but they’ve got a team full of quality.
“Just moments in the game didn’t quite go for us. I think three-nil is a bit harsh. There was not a lot in it.
“You have to be at your very best to beat them away from home and it just didn’t quite go for us.
“You can see after our loss against Wrexham, it’s how the lads bounce back and it’ll be exactly the same this time.”
Despite the defeat, Coventry still sit seven points clear at the top of the Championship table.
And Grimes hopes the Sky Blues will use the defeat as a chance to put another strong run of form together.
Grimes added: “It’s a team that will never give up. It’s the best group I’ve been part of.
“We’re so together and we’re ready to bounce back in midweek. We’re a very close squad.
“It’s another opportunity to put another unbeaten streak together. We responded really well to the Wrexham game.
“The fans can feel the unity we’ve got in the squad. We’re not going to win every game but they can see a team that is giving absolutely everything to the club.”
Coventry are next in action against Preston North End on Tuesday, December 9 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Deepdale.
