JACK Rudoni thanked the Coventry City supporters for giving him a ‘special’ welcome on his return from injury last month.
The midfielder continued his injury return in midweek at Preston North End as he saw his shot deflect into the net after the break.
He has now featured in each of Coventry’s last four matches after spending more than two months on the sidelines with a calf injury.
And Rudoni thanked the Sky Blues fans for welcoming him back from injury when coming off the bench against West Bromwich Albion last month.
Rudoni said: “It’s really good to be back. I love playing football and not being able to play the sport I love was a dark few weeks at the start of the injury.
“Life is life. I’m just happy to be back. The welcome from the fans when I returned was something I couldn’t even imagine. It felt special.
“I’m getting back to full fitness. Match fitness, I’m still getting there but I feel strong and ready to go.
“I don’t play with fear [about the injury recurring]. Once I’m out there, I’m so focused on the game and the task ahead that I’m not thinking about anything that can go wrong.
“I want to get back to scoring goals.”
Rudoni’s form improved following the arrival of Frank Lampard as Sky Blues head coach last season as the midfielder ended the campaign with 10 goals and 12 assists.
And the midfielder wants to maintain the high standards he set last season once he returns to full fitness.
Rudoni added: “Beyond football, as a person he’s been brilliant for me.
“Anything I need, I have the confidence and relationship with him that I can speak to him about anything.
“When he came in, we saw my game go to another level and I’m just trying to replicate that.
“This season has been a bit broken up for me. I just want to keep my standards performance-wise really high and the goals and assists will come.
“He’s been amazing for me, he works with me on and off the pitch and he’s been in contact with me throughout my injury.”
Coventry host Bristol City on Saturday, December 13 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
