RIDERS from Coventry-based Team MI Racing competed at the prestigious UCI Masters Cyclo-Cross World Championships.
The event took place in Varese, Italy as four MI Racing riders took part in the World Championships.
In the men’s 55 to 59 age category, Nick Whitley and Kenilworth’s Darren Atkins raced in a field of 57 riders.
Whitley rode to a 10th place finish overall just one minute and 13 seconds behind the winning rider and placed highest of all British riders.
And teammate Atkins finished just 14 seconds further back to finish 12th overall.
In the men’s 60 to 64 age category, Rugby-based riders David Garrett and Philip Roach raced in a field of 70 riders.
Roach claimed a 27th-place finish while Garrett crossed the line in 52nd place.
Closer to home, a number of the club’s riders excelled in the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross Championships.
MI Racing celebrated a hat-trick of victories as Nick Popham won the 50 to 54 race, Atkins took the 55 to 59 title and Roach won the 60 to 64 event.
In the junior race, Ruben Stringfellow finished second while Andrew Owen and Christian Morgan placed fourth and seventh in the 50 to 54 race.
In the 55 to 59 race, Andy Jackson finished 16th with Alan Buxcey 18th while Mark Garrett placed ninth in the 60 to 64 race.
And in the senior race, James Garrett finished fourth with Tom Bradley fifth in the 40 to 44 race and Colin Miller fourth in the 45 to 49 event.
Elsewhere, in the Eastern Cyclo-Cross Championships, MI Racing’s Richard Perham finished 20th in the men’s 50 to 59 race with teammate Ray Cochrane 15th in the 60-plus race.
In the Welsh Cyclo-Cross Championships, husband and wife duo Nick and Lynsey Whitley finished fourth and sixth respectively in the men’s 50 to 59 race and women’s 40 to 49 race.
And time trial rider Joe Murray, from Nuneaton, won the Veterans Time Trial Association (VTTA) Midland series of races.
Murray finished top of the points table based on his best six results across the series with Leamington-based teammate Mark Wise sixth overall.
And Nuneaton-based MI Racing rider Simon Law raced in the Polly Botts Hill Climb in a field of more than 50 riders and finished 14th after the 1.1km long climb.
