CYCLISTS are being encouraged to set their fundraising wheels in motion for The Myton Hospices.
The charity’s annual Cycle Challenge takes place from Warwick Myton Hospice on Sunday August 2 and will feature three distances – 50km, 100km and 100 miles.
Riders will travel through the picturesque villages of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds, all while raising vital funds for their local hospice.
Returning by popular demand for those taking on the 100-mile route is the legendary Saintbury Hill climb. This timed challenge will test cyclists both mentally and physically, with one male and one female participant set to be crowned Myton Champion and receiving a bespoke winners jersey.
After completing their ride, cyclists will be welcomed back to Warwick Myton Hospice, where food, refreshments and entertainment will be available.
This year, the charity is aiming to raise £70,000 from the event, which could fund the running costs of Warwick Myton Hospice for two weeks. As the only hospice provider of specialist palliative care in this area, and the only one with inpatient beds, these funds will help ensure Myton can continue to provide essential support for people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Natalie Walker, events and campaigns manager at The Myton Hospices, said: “Our annual Cycle Challenge is always a fun day of cycling, bringing together supporters of all abilities, with a little friendly competition along the way. It’s a great way to support hospice care this summer, and every mile ridden helps ensure we can continue providing the care that people across Coventry and Warwickshire so desperately need and deserve.”
