More than 60,000 arrests made in 12 months across the West Midlands

WEST Midlands Police have made more than 60,000 arrests in the force area over the last 12 months.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, officers made over 62,300 arrests across the region for a wide number of offences ranging from murder, domestic violence, possessing an offensive weapon, robbery, burglary and on suspicion of committing sex offences.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We know the impact, devastation and fear, that crime can cause in our communities. It will never be tolerated and it’s why we’re taking action every day to detect suspects and pursue prosecutions.

“We’re here for you and, through our staff and improved technology, we’re now one of the fastest and most effective police forces in the country when it comes to answering calls for help.

“This is despite having one of the heaviest demands for both 999 and 101 calls.

“In a year we took 724,000 emergency 999 calls, answering 97.3 per cent within 10 seconds, but with an average wait time of just two seconds.

“We have a number of specialist force wide teams, along with those based within each of our seven local policing areas, to ensure we can respond and deal with issues.

“We are here 24/7 to help you.”
