Prince William to visit Coventry's War Memorial Park tomorrow

Coventry Editorial 15th Jul, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

PRINCE William will visit War Memorial Park in Coventry tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Duke of Cambridge will make the trip in his role as President of Fields In Trust, which aims to mark the importance of memorial parks and playing fields dedicated to those killed in World War One.

He will lay a wreath at the base of the war memorial before watching children take part in sporting activities. He will also attend a reception at the visitor centre, where he will meet people involved in the Centenary Fields programme run by the Fields In Trust, and then deliver a speech and unveil a plaque to commemorate the park.

Media are not allowed to broadcast or publish timings for the event.

Prince William was made President of Fields of Trust in April last year after the retirement of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, who held the role for 64 years.

The organisation’s Centenary Fields programme, run in partnership with the Royal British Legion, will run to 2018 to coincide with World War One.
