Charlotte Moore guides GB to best ever World finish

COVENTRY’s very own wheelchair basketball star, Charlotte Moore, helped Great Britain to their best ever finish at the 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto, Canada.

The 15-year-old was part of a strong GB squad who progressed from Pool B with a third-placed finish to book a place in the quarter-finals.

But they failed to get past the reigning World Champions USA and missed out on a place in the final four.

They did however manage to beat Paralympic silver medalists France in the final play-off match to finish fifth overall which was a fantastic achievement for such a young side.

On Great Britain’s historical 77-70 win over France, Women’s head coach, Miles Thompson, said: “It feels like the natural step in our progression: we needed a win like that to kick start this programme into the elite and that’s what we did.

“We had some exceptional performances out there individually, but you could also feel the team aspect of where we’re headed – it’s great.”
