City Olympic Torch firm opens engineering centre

AN ENGINEERING centre has been opened in Coventry by the firm behind the London Olympic Torch.

Premier Group launched the £600,000 site earlier this week with the help of top council figures.

The firm claimed the launch helped build on Coventry’s ‘renaissance as a world-class centre’ for high-tech manufacturing.

Lord Mayor Coun Hazel Noonan unveiled a plaque to mark the opening on Tuesday with council leader Ann Lucas among those at the site who met staff and engineers set to use the centre’s facilities.




Premier Group chairman Denis Meagher said: “We are grateful for the support we have received, both from the city council and CWLEP, and we look forward to working with them as we press ahead with our plans for expansion in and around Coventry.

“As a company we feel very much aligned to the city council’s strategic vision of enhancing skills and increasing the numbers of people from the area in the workplace.”
