A HUGE cloud of black smoke was seen near the Ricoh Arena this morning (Friday) after a fire broke out at a nearby scrapyard.
Firefighters were called to a severe fire on Rowley Green Lane shortly after 8am this morning after a number of tyres caught fire.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire and Rescue said on arrival the crews were confronted with a fire involving a quantity of tyres, scrap vehicles and the outside of a nearby industrial unit.
They added: “Initial crews were on scene within two-and-a-half minutes of receiving the call and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and vehicles.”
