BEN Jacobs has described Wasps as his second family after signing a contract extension with the Aviva Premiership club.

The experienced centre is currently enjoying is second spell with Wasps having returned in 2013 and amassed 77 appearances in black and gold.

Jacobs has enjoyed a great run of form this season, including a run of seven starts, before injury cut short his playing time.

“I’m very pleased to have signed a new deal.” said Jacobs. “The club’s definitely heading in the right direction and I love it over here.

“I love Wasps, it’s like my second family and I’m really enjoying it.

“There is a lot of good talent, a lot of young talent as well, which is great. I’ve really enjoyed playing with those guys and I look forward to continuing to build those relationships and helping the younger guys improve.”

Jacobs hinted that the club’s fresh start in Coventry may have helped his decision.

“The Coventry move has been a fantastic thing for the Club; all the people up there have really embraced it and it’s great to see so many of our long-standing Wasps fans watching us at the Ricoh as well. We are all really looking forward to what we can do in a settled home.”

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said he is pleased to have secured the services of Jacobs for another season.

He added: “He has been a valuable member of this squad since he returned from Australia and, this season in particular, has shown that he has a lot to add to this group both on and off the field.

“Unfortunately a shoulder injury ended his season early, but he is working hard to get back out on the field and we’re looking forward to having him back playing.”
