Bees must bounce back against Swindon

Coventry Editorial 3rd Jul, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

BEES skipper Chris Harris says Friday’s meeting at home to Swindon is a must win following Wednesday’s heavy defeat at King’s Lynn in the Elite League.

Bees lost by a poor 61-31 scoreline but were without two of their top three riders and no facility to replace them with Elite League men.

They remain on the brink of the play-off places and another home win could take them into the top four, depending on Wolverhampton’s result at Lakeside.

Hans Andersen and Michael Jepsen Jensen return to the side after missing the trip to King’s Lynn, whilst in-form Lewis Blackbird stands in for Kyle Howarth who remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Harris said: “It’s definitely a meeting we need to win, and we should be able to beat them. We are pretty much back at full-strength barring Kyle, but Lewis is a good guest who’s been going really well, so we should be winning at home.

“Hopefully all the boys will be fighting fit and we can get back to winning ways, and we need the support behind us like we’ve had all season.”

Storm are also in action this Friday as they make the trip to King’s Lynn in the National League (7.30pm).

A win will push them up to second place in the table despite not having raced a league match in the previous month.

Manager, Laurence Rogers, said: “I think we can pull it off, we’ve got a useful guest for Sarj in Dan Halsey, and hopefully we should have Stef back. We do need to get some more points away from home and we’re looking for the win.”
