A GROUP co-workers are preparing to drop more than 100ft to raise money for local breast cancer patients.

Fourteen friends, who all work at ASDA in Walsgrave will free fall 112ft from the glass dome of West Orchards Shopping Centre as part of University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire’s Night Abseil event on Saturday, June 20.

The event is just one of many fundraising for Coventry and Warwickshire’s Breast Cancer Unit Appeal, which aims to raise £400,000 to establish a new unit to enable more local women to be scanned for breast cancer – receiving diagnoses and treatment quicker than presently available.

Speaking about the upcoming challenge, one of the brave participants, Laura Ames, said: “We are a mad bunch and once one of us signs up for something usually a few of us will follow – especially if it’s a challenge.

“We are really looking forward to the abseil and it’s great our fundraising will help local people to beat breast cancer”

Entries are still open for anyone interested in signing up for the night abseil online at www.uhcwcharity.org, or by calling 02476 966055.
