A WOMAN trapped in an overturned car had a lucky escape after emergency services joined forces to rescue her from the wreckage.
Officers from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) were called to the scene of a road traffic accident on the A45 Kenpas Highway just after 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday, July 2).
The collision between two cars had left one car turned on its roof, leaving a woman trapped inside.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A woman in her 30s was in the overturned car and had reportedly been unconscious prior to the arrival of the ambulance service.
“Upon assessment ambulance staff found she had sustained suspected internal injuries as well as bruising to her limbs and upper body.
“With assistance from Coventry fire crews, the woman was extricated from the car and immobilised with a neck collar, spinal board and pelvic splint before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.”
A man from the second car who sustained a foot injury had his wound dressed by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to the same hospital as a precaution.
