THOUSANDS of people witnessed the weird and wonderful world of creative imaginations when they flocked in the sunshine to Coventry city centre on Saturday.

This year’s Festival of Imagineers concluded with spectacular displays including another procession for the Lady herself – the giant mechanical puppet Lady Godiva which first graced Broadgate square where her statue resides in Olympic year, 2012.

There were performances from UK and international street theatre companies, activities from inventors and artists, a musical bike ride around Millennium Place, and an adventure to discover the secret of flight.

The festival explores the link between art and engineering – and there was plenty of wacky and ingenious inventions and creations.

Saturday’s finale after a week of activities included outdoor arts company Desperate Men’s mischievous take on the world.

Liberty and Cloud Dreaming performed sketches with a Big Brother theme.

The event followed last year’s inaugural festival, with public funding through the National Lottery and Arts Council England.

Award-winning sound artist and composer Kaffe Matthews and the Bicrophonic Research Institute (BRI) took over Millennium Place with The Coventry Pedalling Games, commissioned especially for the festival.
