COVENTRY City Council and NSPCC Coventry are working together to deliver a number of innovative projects to improve the lives of some of the city’s most vulnerable children.

The NSPCC has created a toolkit which provides inspiration for worksheets and activities for the city’s children and young people to use.

The council has been working closely alongside the NSPCC to raise awareness of the scheme.

Coun Ed Ruane, who is responsible for children and young people, said the work with the NSPCC was particularly important as half of all looked after children had a particular mental health need.

He added: “Creative, dedicated work takes place daily with our young people in need of specialist support and we work alongside our partners to deliver what Coventry’s kids need.”

Cathy Small, Service Manager for NSPCC Coventry, said: “Coventry City Council has embraced the learning from our recent spotlight on the emotional wellbeing of children in care for the greater good of local children.

“In addition, the toolkit that we’ve developed is helping professionals take a solution-focused approached when working with children and young people, which is adding value to the fantastic work that they are already doing.”
