POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on Wednesday (October 14).

Traffic officers were called to the junction of Denbigh Road and Courtland Avenue in the Coundon area at around 12.25pm following reports of a van in collision with an off road scrambler.

The 24-year-old motorcyclist was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital where he still continues to be treated for serious head injuries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw the crash or was in the area at the time to come forward.

PC Mark Crozier, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We continue to investigate and are appealing to anyone who saw the movements of the scrambler bike before the crash to come forward.

“If anyone saw what happened then please call me or one of the team on 101.”

The driver of the van was spoken to at the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to call PC Crozier on 101, or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to leave information anonymously.
