THE INJURY curse continues for the Sky Blues after it was confirmed this week that defender Jordan Willis will remained sidelined because of another knee injury.
The all-action defender was hoping to return to first team duty this month having previously missed most of the season when he picked up a knee injury during the defeat at Walsall back in August.
Now the academy graduate has sustained another injury setback just days after his return for the under-21s and he will need an operation which will keep him out for an extended period of town.
The news comes just weeks after Reda Johnson sustained a serious hamstring injury which will keep him out for the remainder of the campaign, while academy graduate Ivor Lawton is also out for the season with a knee injury sustained just days after making his first team debut.
And influential midfielder James Maddison is also unavailable for selection, although he is making rapid progress and is targeting a return ahead of schedule.
All injuries are are what manager Tony Mowbray describes as contact injuries which has made it all the more frustrating.
He said: “I think we’ve had some very bad fortune with our injuries this season as there have been none, if any, muscle injuries through overuse and fitness.
“They’ve all been contact injuries in tackles or collisions. We had Reda Johnson and James Maddison, and Jordan Willis compounded that this week as well.
“Thankfully, nothing major from the weekend. There are a few players who we carry during the week but we wrap them up and make sure they’re good for the next game.”
