AN APPEAL has been launched after an emaciated dog was found on the streets of Coventry.
The RSPCA is searching for information on an American Bulldog, who has been named Clara, found on Nicholls Street, in Hillfields on Wednesday, October 28.
Clara, who is believed to be around two-years-old, is also thought to have given birth to puppies within 48 hours of her being found.
RSPCA inspector Louise Labram explained: “She has enlarged teats and was found with discharge coming from her genitals, which has led the vet to believe she may have had puppies with the 48 hours before she was found.
“On top of that, she was very emaciated.
“I am also very concerned that there may be some pups out there who are very young and are unlikely to survive without her.”
Now in the care of the RSPCA Clara has gained weight, but Ms Labram said he was worried the dog had been underfed or starved before she was found.
And with no microchip, the RSPCA are unable to trace where Clara came from.
