HEALTHCARE across the region could be set to benefit from a multi-billion pound Government cash injection.
The Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which plans and pays for the NHS-funded healthcare in the city, has welcomed Chancellor George Osborne’s Autumn Statement announcement than an urgent £6billion grant would be granted to the NHS to help frontline services cope with growing demands and staff shortages.
The grant is part of the Government’s promise that the NHS will will receive £10billion more in real terms by 2020-21 than in 2014-15.
Arguing it was hard to comment without having fully inspected the details of Mr Osborne’s proposals, Dr Adrian Canale-Parola, Chairman of NHS Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Any new investment is welcome but we need to understand exactly what this announcement means for Coventry and Rugby.”
