Coventry-born musician John ‘Brad’ Bradbury has died aged 62.

Best known for his role as drummer in the English Ska group The Specials, John was active in the music industry for almost half a century.

Hailed as the world’s greatest drummer by his music colleagues, Bradbury joined the Specials in 1979 and played during the reunion tour from 2008 onwards.

The Specials produced hits including Free Nelson Mandela, Too Much Too Young and Ghost Town.

The news broke when the official Specials Twitter account tweeted: “It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our great friend, the world’s greatest drummer, our beloved Brad.”

His cause of death is currently unknown.
