M.I.RACING ended the West Midlands Cyclo Cross series in style by winning five events at the Pipe Hayes in Birmingham on Sunday.

Rugby’s Phil Roach dominated the race for riders aged 50 and over after leading from the start to claim his 11th victory of the season.

Team mate Kirby Bennett followed hard on his trail throughout the race but finished 40 second behind as Coventry-based M.I.Racing made it a one and two, with Bennett winning the 55+ race.

Roach still has a couple more events to ride before he has a break, but Sunday’s race was Bennett’s last for a few weeks as he takes a hard-earned rest having completed no fewer than 56 races since January last year.

Former British Senior champion Steve Knight won the race for riders over the age of 40 while also taking the 45+ category and catching up with all six senior riders who had started one minute ahead

And a fifth victory for M.I.Racing came in the shape of John Gabriel who was victorious in the 65+ category.
