Step-dad of murdered Coventry schoolboy Daniel Pelka found dead in prison

THE STEP-DAD of murdered Coventry schoolboy Daniel Pelka has been found dead in prison.

Mariusz Krezolek was found unresponsive in his cell at Foston Hall in Derbyshire shortly before 8.30am on Wednesday morning (January 28).

Krezolek, aged 36, was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years imprisonment after starving Daniel and poisoning him with salt over a sixth month period with his partner at the time, Magdelena Luczak.

Former Polish soldier Krezolek unsuccessfully appealed against his murder sentence.




The judge described the trial as one of the most serious offences of murder to come before the courts.

Daniel weighed just 1st 9lbs when he died.


The news comes just six months after Daniel’s mother was discovered dead in prison after the pair were convicted of murder in 2013.

A prison service spokesperson said: “HMP Full Sutton prisoner Mariusz Krezolek was found unresponsive in his cell at 8.30am on Wednesday 28 January.

“Staff immediately attempted resuscitation but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

“As will all deaths in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons & Probation Ombudsman.”
