A PEDESTRIAN is in a critical condition following a hit-and-run incident in Bell Green this afternoon (Saturday, January 30).

The man in his 50s was treated by doctors and paramedics at the scene before being taken to University Hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after he was hit by ‘a small vehicle’ on Dame Agnes Grove at around 1pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Sergeant Alan Wood from the forces Collision Investigation Unit said: “The investigation is in its early stages however I would appeal for any witnesses to the incident to contact us.

“I am aware that there were a number of witnesses in a bus stop nearby who may not have spoken to police and I would particularly like to speak to them

“I would also appeal directly to the driver of the vehicle to do the right thing and to come forward and speak to us.”

The Collision Investigation Unit can be contacted on 101 or anonymously via crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
