Grand National winning jockey Jason Maguire set to support Air Ambulance that helped save his life

GRAND NATIONAL winning jockey Jason Maguire and Alcester based trainer Dan Skelton have pledged to support the Air Ambulance Race Day at Warwick Racecourse (March 13).

Maguire, who was rushed the University Hospital Coventry by air ambulance in March 2014 after being kicked by a horse during a race, was so seriously injured he had to be placed in a medically-induced coma.

The 33-year-old Irishman, who partnered Ballabriggs to victory in the 2011 Grand National, pulled through and thanked the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for saving his life.

Though his career in the saddle remains in doubt, Maguire is excited to be a part of the event – which is happening on Sunday (March 13th).

The County Meath born jockey said: “Who knows what could have happened had the air ambulance not been on hand.

“Words don’t do justice – I urge everyone to join us for a great day and help us keep the air ambulance flying.”

Trainer Dan Skelton – who is busy getting his yard ready for Cheltenham Festival – said: “I am more than happy to give the air ambulance my time.

“No one knows when we might need then and I am looking forward to this great event.”

The event is a chance for fans to join Jason and Dan for a full day’s hospitality and a day of racing – which includes reception, dinner and auction and a Cheltenham preview by both Jason and Dan.
