COVENTRY school children got a message from the stars when British astronaut Tim Peak sent them a tweet from space.

Mr Peake, who is currently orbiting the world on the International Space Station, praised youngsters at Stoke Primary for their ‘great work’ work on Space Day.

The school on Briton Road sent a tweet to Peake showing off the five- and six-year-old’s handywork – including a model of the astronaut himself – only to be shocked when they got a reply back.

The school later tweeted, saying: “The one and only Tim Peake loved our tweet and hard work. Feeling honoured.”

In December, Tim Peake made history when he became the first UK-born person to fly into space as an employee of the European Space Agency (ESA).
