A NEW headteacher at a Coventry secondary school is hoping to bring her ‘core Christian beliefs’ to the role when she begins after the Easter holidays,
Victoria Shelley has been appointed as the new headteacher of Blue Coat Church of England School and Music College by the school’s Interim Governing Body.
Mrs Shelley served as Senior Vice-Principal at Sidney Stringer Academy and Director of the Swan Teaching School Alliance – leading the Sidney Stringer Multi-Academy Trust on teaching, evaluation, professional development and appraisal.
She has also worked for Birmingham and Wolverhampton local authorities.
Chair of the Interim Governing Body, Douglas Tribe, said: “Victoria has been appointed following a rigorous selection and interview process, and comes to the school with extensive secondary school experience.
“She will provide excellent leadership and, along with our dedicated staff team, ensure all our pupils continue to receive the very best education and pastoral care.”
As well as being a mother to two young children, Mrs Shelley is a committed Christian, worshipping regularly at Knowle Parish Church.
Mrs Shelley said: “I am delighted to be joining Blue Coat, and to working with the staff and students in leading the school into the next stage of its development.
“Although I will miss colleagues and students at Sidney Stringer, I relish the opportunity of combining my vocation as a Headteacher, with my core Christian beliefs, in my new post.
“I am very much looking forward to building on Blue Coat’s long tradition of providing an inclusive, yet distinctively Christian education.”
