Experienced Australian Sam Grasso makes Coventry move

Coventry Editorial 2nd Aug, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

AUSTRALIAN scrum half Sam Grasso will provide plenty of experience to Rowland Winter’s Coventry side after joining the National League One club this summer.

The 25-year-old has played representative rugby for Queensland Reds A and his arrival adds to the competition for places at half-back as Cov begin their programme of pre-season games ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Brisbane-born Grasso looked set to make his Coventry debut in a warm-up match against Broadstreet on Tuesday night.

“Sam is well suited to what we are building in the new Coventry set-up, and we feel he will complement our current group of scrum-halves and offer something we haven’t got,” said director rugby, Rowland Winter.

“With Pete White out until the end of September as he recovers from surgery, Sam provides added quality and experience and increases the competition for places.

“He comes highly recommended – we’ve had a lot of references through James Pritchard’s links and from Bedford’s Ben Adams, who played with Sam at the Reds.

“We look forward to having him on board and hope our fans will help him to settle in quickly.”
