A PAIR of the Amur leopards – thought to be world’s rarest big cat – have been born at Twycross Zoo.
Two cubs, who have not yet been named, are the second pair born to parents Kristen and Davidoff and are part of the zoo’s vital efforts to save the species from extinction.
It is thought there are less than 70 Amur leopards in the wild, though the exact number is difficult to know because they are so rare.
And with around 200 of the leopards in zoos around the world, the new cubs at Twycross will help conservationists’ hopes to reintroduce the cats into the wild.
The young cubs are just beginning to venture outside their den, and zoo visitors can also watch them via a live-stream on a big screen outside their enclosure at the zoo.
