Coventry's beach makes a popular return until Sunday

COVENTRY’S popular beach has made a popular return to Shelton Square this week and will be available for families to get stuck into some ‘seaside’ fun until Sunday.

Alongside plenty of sand, there will be buckets, spades and a giant deckchair for families to enjoy.

Organised by Coventry City Council, and in partnership with Coventry BID and EnV, the event is completely free and organisers are hoping it will draw in families over the summer holidays for some shopping and fun in the city centre.

Coun Linda Bigham, cabinet member for community development, said: “I’m pleased that the beach is back in Shelton Square.

“The event has been really popular over the past few years and it’s great for families.

“A lot of families do not have the opportunity or the money to enjoy trips to the seaside so we’re bringing the seaside to Coventry instead.

“We’re encouraging parents to bring their children along for the day to play in the sand and enjoy the beach experience.”

The beach is open every day until Sunday (August 7) from 10am until 4pm.
