HUNDREDS of motorcycle fans turned out to smash records at the annual Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Ride In fundraising event.

Around 700 motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at Leicestershire’s Bruntingthorpe race circuit to perform a mass two-mile lap of the famous racetrack before leaving in convoy for Brackley Festival of Motorcycling in Northamptonshire.

It’s believed the Ride In has raised an incredible £10,000 for the local Air Ambulance charity, a figure which will fund several life-saving missions.

Air Ambulance events manager Richard Loader said it was the biggest and best Ride In event held to date with motorbike enthusiasts from Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland attending.

He added: “It was a fantastic atmosphere and it was great to be part of something so big.

“We would like to thank the Police, Midland Bike Marshals, our volunteers and everyone who participated in the event which raised an incredible £10,000 for the local Air Ambulance.”

The event proved to be a huge success for the charity which receives no government funding and relies entirely on public donations to operate its lifesaving services.
