MIDFIELDER Andy Rose looks set for a long spell on the sidelines after being up a serious knee injury during the 0-0 stalemate with Bury last Tuesday evening.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury in the first half of the match and was forced to withdraw from the game after attempting to run it off.
City boss Tony Mowbray has also confirmed this week that Marvin Sordell remains out of contention as he continues to recover from a knock he picked up on the opening day of the season at Swindon Town.
“Andy Rose is going to be out for a while,” said Mowbray. “I can’t give you a precise time because the specialists have got to look at it but we’re talking weeks, perhaps months.
“He twisted his knee as he fell and he’s really disappointed as we are. Any time out is a problem for a footballer and it’s particularly difficult when it’s an important player like Andy at this stage of the season.
“Marvin has got the same problem as Andy but a lesser grade; we’re hoping it’s days rather than weeks in his case.”
Attacking midfielder Jodi Jones is another player who has yet to reach full fitness having also picked up a slight groin injury.
The 18-year-old has seen his first team opportunities limited so far this season and Mowbray is keen not to rush one of his key players back.
He added: “With Jodi’s groin problem, too, we’re hopefully talking in terms of days.
“It’s nothing major but we just have to build up his resistance – test it, have a look, see if there’s a reaction and if there is we let it settle down and go again.”
