A COVENTRY music historian received a British Empire Medal on Monday (September 12) at a special ceremony in Birmingham’s Town Hall.
Music Museum curator Pete Chambers received his medal on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen from Colonel George Marsh, the Vice-Lord Lieutenant of West Midlands.
The 59-year-old’s musical journey includes being an author of six books, spearheading various projects including ‘The More Than Two Tones’ exhibition at The Herbert Art Gallery and the Coventry Music Wall of Fame.
Mr Chambers BEM said to say he is thrilled is a total understatement.
He added: “I know that getting an honour like this is a unique thing, also being awarded this for Coventry music makes it even more amazing – this is life changing for me.
“I Never dreamed that one day I would be on the Honours List and be able to use letters after my name – I never saw that one coming.”
