ENGLISH traditional folk powerhouse Eliza Carthy will make a flying visit to Coventry in November as part of her UK tour with the Wayward Band.

Eliza will visit the Warwick Arts Centre on Sunday, November 6 with The Wayward Band which was first assembled in 2013 in order to explore and celebrate the artist’s long and varied career in folk music.

After three years of creating music, it seemed inevitable the 12-piece would set about recording an album – which in the early months of 2016 they did.

Co-produced by Eliza and Jim Sutherland, ‘Big Machine’ is expected to be released in early 2017.

The album features three contemporary songs including Eliza’s own ‘You Know Me’, a powerful cover of Ewan Maccoll’s ‘The Fitter Song’ and ‘Hug You Like A Mountain’.

Material on the album has been described as a ‘healthy slice of everything good that is happening in traditional music now’.

The album is one of Eliza Carthy’s most adventurous and accomplished works to date – and given the musician is one of the most groundbreaking English traditional singer of her generation, ‘Big Machine’ is not an album to miss.
