AS PART of Black History Month, Coventry’s Albany Theatre will host a powerful and controversial play in response to events taking place across the world.
‘Sorry! No Coloureds, No Irish, No Dogs’ is written and directed by Pamela Cole-Hudson and stars just two actors – Tonia Daley-Campbell and Oraine Johnson.
Both characters find themselves in a room full of suitcases, books and stories which takes them on a journey of discovery, reflection and tragedy from the past right up to the present day.
The performance runs alongside Black History Month and shares the experiences of some of the most influential black people in history including Mary Seacole, Walter Tull Olaudah Equiano.
For the contribution that African, Caribbean and Asian people have made to the community in Coventry, the play fits in perfectly with the month’s celebrations.
The play’s name originates from when people travelled over from Jamaica to England and were greeted by signs that read the title of the play.
The thought-provoking play is set to stimulate after-show discussion with author and director Pamela Cole-Hudson.
The show starts at 7.30pm on Friday, October 28.
