A WELL contested game saw Coventry & North Warwickshire edged out by a single goal as they fell to a third defeat of the season at home to Hampton-in-Arden in the Midland League Division Two.
Both sides has chances with the two goalkeepers have a busy day, but it was Daffyd Bowles’ strike ten minutes into the second period that proved to be the difference at Coventry University Sports Ground on Saturday.
The teams traded unsuccessful corners in the first five minutes before Bowles had a shot well saved by Aidan Thompson.
Ricki Saund nearly scored for Coventry as the first half drew to an end and into the second half a furry of corners from Hampton were well defended.
Bowles opened the scoring with a well executed goal and soon after he squandered a good chance to bag a second while chances came and went for the visitors.
Waqar Akbar was creating for Coventry and he played a part in winning a succession of corners as his side put the pressure on for the equaliser, but these were defended to earn the points for the village team.
