A SERIOUSLY ill Coventry teenager has had his Christmas wish granted early when he met his idol, Olly Murs.
Connor Evans from Eastern Green got the chance to meet the pop-star at a festive meet-up in London organised by the charity Rays of Sunshine.
The 16-year-old lives with the rare genetic condition Phelan-McDermaid Syndrome, which he was diagnosed with in 2013, meaning he has to take daily medication.
After travelling down to London, Connor and other children spent some time with Olly Murs.
The Coventry teen took the time to chat about football with the singer, and even mentioned his favourite team – Coventry City FC – before singing Olly’s hit ‘Seasons’ with him.
After his wish Connor’s mother, Lindsay Evans, said: “I would like to thank Rays of Sunshine for such an amazing day.
“It was so special and the whole family had a brilliant time.”
Connor’s trip was made possible by the Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, which brightens up the lives of seriously ill children in the UK aged three to 18 years old by granting wishes, hospital ward wishes and organising outings and large scale events for seriously ill children.
The meet-and-greet took place at London store of the charity’s partner, Outfit.
Rays of Sunshine ambassador, Olly Murs, commented: “I love being an ambassador for Rays of Sunshine and meeting so many fantastic families and children, just like Connor.
“It was a pleasure to chat to him and his family and spending time getting to know them.
“I had an amazing time and a very big thank you to Outfit for making it so special.”
It is hoped that Outfit and Rays of Sunshine will be able to work more closely together in the future to grant a series of VIP makeover and shopping wishes for seriously ill children across the UK, as well as fundraise to help grant wishes.
