HOCKEY: IT WAS not the return to action Coventry & North Warwickshire were hoping for on Saturday after they were thumped 11-0 away at Chesterfield.
A threadbare team of just 11 players toiled away in Chesterfield and it could have been a different scoreline had the visitors put away their chances.
Dom Bell had a penalty stroke saved and Coventry wasted several short corners but the firepower of the Derbyshire team eventually told and they held a 4-0 lead at the break.
Effort was not the reason but there was a lack of shape and seven more goals were conceded in a second half during which Coventry received no favours from the umpires.
This weekend Coventry are preparing for a double header at home which will give them a chance for the chastened team to show their true form.
