ICE HOCKEY: COVENTRY Blaze Under 20s finished runners up in the Ice Hockey UK Under 20s National Final at Dumfries at the weekend.
Blaze were beaten 2-0 by Fife Falcons in the final after previously putting five past Aberdeen during a 5-3 win in the semi-final on Saturday.
Falcons were boosted by the efforts of their netminder Andrew Little, who posted a 30-shot shutout to lead his team to victory in the grand final.
The Falcons went ahead when Scott Jamieson put away a rebound at 13:09 after Garry Simpson’s shot was saved.
A scoreless second period followed before Falcons secured the championship in the third period when Chad Smith reacted first to a loose puck after Aaron Robertson was denied.
It proved a successful second visit for Fife who last year were beaten in overtime against Sheffield.
