PREVIEW: Tsang optimistic ahead of weekend home Gloucester clash

RUGBY LEAGUE: COVENTRY Bears are in action this Sunday (3pm) when taking on Gloucestershire All Golds in their latest Kingstone Press League 1 fixture at the Butts Park Arena.

The All Golds joined the ranks of semi-professional rugby league in 2013 – two years before the Bears – and a keen but friendly rivalry has been established since then.

Last season the Bears managed to complete the double over All Golds, and Tom Tsang’s team will be hoping to get back on track after a stuttering start to the 2017 season.

Bears slumped to an alarming defeat at York last week after conceeding 42 points in the second half where Bears barely touched the ball.

By contrast, All Golds chalked up another memorable first by defeating North Wales Crusaders 36-28.

Gloucestershire’s All Golds take their name from the New Zealand All Golds team whose win in Cheltenham gained them the first ever Test Series against England way back in 1908.

Bears head coach Tom Tsang said: “Looking ahead we know the size of the task at hand to drag ourselves off the canvas to face Gloucester who are coming off the back of a very impressive result beating North Wales.

“But we all have a point to prove this week, so I am optimistic for a bounce back.”
