SWIMMING: COVENTRY’S 50m Olympic Pool hosted some of the best swimmers in the region as competitors raced in the prestigious regional championship titles.
A total of 47 swimmers from City of Coventry Swimming club qualified throughout the season and competed at the Gala achieving some excellent results.
The team finished fourth in the medal table, claiming an impressive 59 medals – 16 gold, 29 silver, and 15 bronze.
As well as the medalists, there were numerous finalists and personal best times swam.
Hymie Connell picked up three gold medals for the boys in the 200m and 400m freestyle plus and 200m backstroke.
Joshua Fairchild also took home three golds in the multi-classification 100m Free, 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke.
There was also success for Eva Vicary who secured first place in the girls 17+ 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle.
Tom Mitchell also picked up first in the 15+ 100m and 200m backstroke.
Coventry’s other gold medallists were Aimee Hood and Niall Connell who both took gold in the 13+ 200m butterfly.
Lauren McConnachie also scooped gold in the 15+ 200m Fly, while Erin Jones finished first in the 14+ 400m individual medley, Adam Nash 14+ 100m breaststroke and Daniel Moore in the 17+ 50m backstroke.
Coaches Adam Ruckwood and Ricki Morris were delighted with their swimmers performances.
