Coventry charity's harvest appeal to feed starving Uganda families

A CHARITY in Coventry is using its annual harvest appeal to raise money for starving families in Uganda.

Global Care hopes to raise money to support people in the Soroti district, who have been left starving following a series of severe droughts.

The current food crisis means children and families have been left to scavenge for food – even resorting to digging up bugs.

The charity has already used all its discretionary funds on children it sponsors, and an additional £7,750 was sent out by the charity earlier this year.

Now Global Care hopes to raise more than £10,000 to help families who are desperate for food.

John White, CEO of Global Care said: “We have dug as deep as we can to keep feeding the children, but the simple truth is we cannot afford to do so without additional income.

“With no end to the crisis in sight, we want to raise more funds and we will be very grateful to all who support us in our efforts on behalf of these very vulnerable children.”
