IT’S a good a job the pilot knows where they’re going or West Midlanders could miss out on their holiday in the sun.
A survey by insurance comparison firm GoCompare found 1 in 3 people in the region could not identify Spain on a map.
Arguably even more surprising was that 1 in 10 people from the UK could not pick out Ireland.
To test how well UK residents knew Europe, the firm created an interactive 10-question quiz which was taken by 1000 people.
West Midlanders also scored particularly poorly on countries such as Austria and Croatia.

The average score from the 1,000 who took the test was 6.5 out of 10.
