LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
The Coundon Wedge Clean Up Facebook group will be holding its fourth and final volunteer event of the year on Saturday, November 4.
We’ll be meeting by the duck pond at 12 noon to clear more debris and litter from this treasured area of green belt land and as always, equipment and free refreshments will be available for those who are able to come down and support us.
Since our first clean-up event in February we have achieved so much thanks to the army of local residents who have volunteered their time throughout the year, but our work in maintaining the area never stops so it would be great to see everyone again on Saturday.
Even just half an hour of your time means so much and makes a huge difference to our efforts.

Your letters to the editor last week gave praise for councillor Kevin Maton trying to get more money from schools.
We have been fighting the cuts in disabled children transport to school which councillor Maton enforced through, by using dubious consultation meetings and quoting statements to the press that were in contradiction to what he was saying to parents fighting these cuts.

I am delighted to read the report from Shaun Reynolds that Coventry University student Hannah Cockcroft achieved top prize at the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year awards by becoming the Disability Sportswomen of the Year.
She was successful in the T34 100metres, 400metres and 800metres – the same events that she won at Paralympic level in Rio de Janeiro.
It really matters that such an example is set, showing for disabled people of all backgrounds how much they can do in their different ways through perseverance against the odds. Well done, Hannah!.

The national press continues to raise concerns about the roll out of Universal Credit which combines six benefits into one and in some cases will result in claimants having to wait up to six weeks before receiving their first payment of Universal Credit.
We at the RAF Benevolent Fund are passionate about helping all members of the RAF Family who are in need.
We launched our Advice and Advocacy Service two years ago following research which indicated that many of our beneficiaries were not receiving the state benefits they were entitled to, such as Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction or Universal Credit.
We are keen to hear from anyone who has served in the RAF, including their partners and dependants who find themselves affected by the recent changes to the benefit system. We may be able to provide advice, advocacy or financial support to help alleviate your financial distress. We can also help in relation to other forms of financial distress.
If you feel we can help you or someone you know, call 0800 169 2942 today or visit www.rafbf.org/help.
