TWO Coventry teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in police custody, following West Midlands Police patrols.
Officers from response and force support units joined armed colleagues and members of the dog unit into the early hours in communities from Coventry to Wolverhampton launching burglary patrols and conducting curfew checks.
It led to the arrest of two teenagers suspected of stealing an Audi A3 and Christmas gifts from an address in Modbury Close, Styvechale, Coventry, at around 2am (December 15).
Police quickly tracked the car to Gilquart Way where the Audi and another suspected stolen Peugeot were recovered; one suspect was arrested on the spot and another was found hiding in bushes by a police dog.
The teenagers are aged 18 and 15.
Overnight patrols were also carried out in Boldmere, Acocks Green, Yardley and Bradley in Wolverhampton.
A total of 35 curfew checks were carried out on people subject to bail conditions; four breaches were identified and efforts are on-going to trace those crime suspects.
West Midlands Police chief inspector Jack Hadley, said: “This was a fantastic team effort with officers from a range of departments coming together to carry out patrols through the night.
“They worked through tough conditions and freezing temperatures – but came up trumps with some significant arrests and encountered several people of interest.
“We fully understand the misery and huge inconvenience of being a burglary victim and these overnight patrols will continue in order to protect the public.”
